Try-athlon - an Introduction to Triathlon

Milford Haven Leisure Centre Sunday 10th Feburary 2008, 9.30 - 5pm

We are running a day course in the basics skills and techniques of swimming, cycling and running – no previous experience necessary. This day is for budding triathletes and people just looking for a new way to get fit and stay in shape.

Triathlon combines 3 different sports into one multisport. There is plenty of variety -  great if you don’t feel like pounding along the concrete one day you can be in the pool or on your bike instead.

Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and there are more and more races springing up every year. As well as all the serious athletes there is a huge number of triathletes who are out there just to have fun, meet new people and stay healthy. When you don’t feel like going out for a run or even going to the gym there is a big incentive in having someone waiting for you!

The workshops will be coached by British Triathlon Federation qualified coaches from the Tri club. The sessions will focus on technique and basic skills rather than being a hard workout. By the end of the day you will feel more confident about how to exercise effectively and without causing injury. The sessions will include:

  • Running Workshop: an Introduction to running, warm-up exercises and running style.
  • Cycling workshop – a session on basic bike maintenance and setting up your bike up correctly. There will also be a session on improving your confidence on the bike.
  • Swimming session- Don’t worry if you can’t swim very well. The coaches will help you to gain confidence in the pool and learn some basic techniques. There will also be a some class room sessions.
  • Nutrition - Find out the types of food to eat when you train

The day only costs £12 including a healthy buffet lunch and membership to the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club.
